Book Of Days Play

This play by Lanford Wilson has really brought together a great cast and a great group of people. There must be at least five different story lines involved in the show that all come together at the end and meld into one great big one. There is a Joan of Arc line, a cheese line, a murder line, an affair line, a promiscuous teacher line, and problems with a play director and the reverend of the church. Everybody in this town has issues.

I have seen the show about five times now, and it keeps getting better each time. I keep catching things I missed the last show. It does pay to see a show mire than once I say. I am fascinated at the cast and how different some of them are from there characters. You see someone as a character and I guess you automatically think that is how they are in life. I am fascinated that some are 180 degrees the other direction and nothing like their characters.

My son is a great example. His character is devilish and mean at times. He is just a gentle-natured fellow. So it is interesting to see him portray evil and mean characters because I know he is not like that in real life. He also employs a mean southern accent for this show.

It has been a great show and learning experience each night for me. I hope to see it a couple of more times and see something new each time. Hopefully by the end of the show, I will have figured out all the plot lines and who really killed who!
